It's.... a baby!

So we had our OB check up today. We are 12 weeks to the DAY! Baby was nice and wiggly with a real strong heart beat (150 bpm). We have an appt on Sept 10 and then we call Monday to schedule our next ultrasound to find out the nagging question of what meat by product we'll be calling our child's genitalia. :) During our appt, David was VERY excited during the ultrasound and kept making noises mimicking "Hi!" and smacking his stroller quite hard and giggling. He's a very happy big brother and he doesn't even know it yet!

In David news - he's a standing FIEND! He will crawl to various pieces of furniture for the sole intent and purpose of standing up and yelling at it. He's getting so big, I can't believe that he's almost 10 months old!

I had a wonderful birthday and am getting very excited about this weekend's excursion to see my parents. There aren't many birthday's I get to spend with him, although I will say last year definatly made top 10 best birthdays, being in Cleveland, renting a car and seeing my wonderful in-laws.

So that's all going on here. Here's the latest little one.

Love!!

9 months and growing!

So David is growing like a weed! Sorry we haven't updated in a while, life is busy with a little one.

Well David is 30 inches tall and 24 pounds, still 95% for both height and weight. He has 8 teeth in his head, and more are crowning as we speak. Last month he finally started crawling and yesterday, he took his first steps while pushing his mail cart.

David's 6 month checkup

He's mobile! He can officially roll from both back to front and front to back.

Now, for the nitty-gritty. He was 20 pounds, 8 oz, and 27 inches long. Both at the 95% range. His head, also 46 cm, 95% range. He's a happy and healthy baby boy! he can reach out and grab for things. Has two teeth peeking out from the bottom and one coming in on the upper right. (His, not mine) Other than that, we're doing good here.

Although we did get some bad news. Tim leaves for 29 palms for three weeks starting Tuesday and then he's home for 3-4 weeks before he's put on the 11th MEU (on ship) for 6-7 months touring the Western Pacific. Hopefully, he won't have any problems *crosses fingers while angrily shaking fist at N. Korea and those stupid pirates*.

So keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers. Keep updated on our facebook/myspace pages. If you dont have those, ask! We don't bite! Love you all!

4 month check up, 5 month milestones

So two weeks ago, David had his 4 month checkup.

He was 19 lbs, 27 inches, and his head was 44cm. He was in the 90-95% for height and weight and 75-85% for his head. He's a big baby but totally normal. He has already started getting his first tooth, can hold him self up for a few seconds unassisted, and can recognize himself in the mirror. He can also nearly roll over back to front.

I apologise for the lack of updates, there have been a lot of family issues. My dog of 14 years, Snuggles, passed away and my 87 year old grandmother, Leta De Soto, passed away Thursday and her funeral was Tuesday. I will be posting updates more often, I promise, and expanding this blog as well.

Life with baby

While Daddy runs to the store with the lil munchkin, I have a free moment to finally update on life as a Mommy. David has got to be one of the best babies EVER. He was three months on Sunday (the 4th). That was also the first night he slept in his own room. He's been doing pretty well. He had his first big trip to Grandma & Grandpa Harshbarger's for Thanksgiving.

He had his first long distance trip to San Jose for Great-Grandma & Grandpa Desoto's 60th wedding anniversary, and two weeks later to Calistoga and Pine Grove to see his Great Aunt Lani (Aka Memaw) and Great Grandma Yola. It's been a whirl wind. While on this last trip, we all came down with a cold, David's first. He was a lil trooper and didn't fuss much.

Developmentally, he can already smile, smile back and laugh at you. He enjoys spending his time sucking on his first finger while in a tight fist. He hasn't quite discovered his feet yet, but its just a matter of time. He has nearly full head control and can sit up assisted. He was a whopping 14lbs 10oz at his last baby appt on Dec 10. Before he had his cold, he slept almost through the night, waking up only twice for a diaper change and bottle. He's getting back into the routine, but wakes a bit more often with some minor congestion.

We had a great Christmas, spending Christmas day at home, then made it to my folks, GGma & GGpa Desoto's (GG = Great grand...) and Aunt Memaw's all in one day (the 26th). That was a long day but he's a great traveling baby. We don't plan on making any BIG trips until Tim get's back from over seas.

UPDATE: He could leave for Iraq in April or Afghanistan in June, both treks being 6-7 months. We will fill you in the more as we know.

Other than that, life is great. David takes after most of the family in silly ways. He's a big flirt, loves to snore, has a great attitude, has his moments (don't we all), and is all in all a GREAT baby! It's such an incredible experience and I'm really glad that our families are going to get the chance to know him and he get to know them. Enjoy the pictures and I promise to update more often. As most of you know, having a baby is TOUGH work, but well worth it.

I plan on going back to work hopefully by Monday, and David going into Day Care. Wish us luck! Until then, good night!
